If you’re using the 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 with SureSeal Facepiece or the 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 HT Facepiece, you’re set to make the most of your respiratory protection. You now have access to the 3M™ Scott™ AV-632 Bayonet Adapter, allowing you to connect to the extensive line of 3M™ Filters and Cartridges — giving you more options than ever.
If you’re using 3M™ the Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece, it’s time to upgrade.
The 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece will be discontinued as of March 31, 2022, and will not be compatible with the 3M™ Scott™ AV-632 Bayonet Adapter. Over the next two years, you’ll be asked to transition to a newer 3M™ Scott™ Facepiece to help ensure workers are equipped to use the latest technology 3M™ Scott™ Safety has to offer.
Also, the current 742 series adapter and all 742 filters & cartridges will be discontinued July 31, 2021, and the transition to the 3M™ Scott™ AV-632 Bayonet Adapter and 3M™ Filters and Cartridges will occur.

The 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece is NIOSH approved with 3M™ Scott™ Respirators, including APR (742 or 40 mm cartridges), supplied air or SCBA. What other facepieces does 3M™ Scott™ Brand offer that provide this capability (“Top Down Convertibility”)?
The 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 with SureSeal Facepiece and the 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 HT Facepiece offer this compatibility. They are NIOSH approved with 3M™ Scott™ APR, supplied air respirators and SCBA.

Why has it been decided that the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece will not be approved on any new respirators that 3M™ Scott™ Safety develops?
The 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece has been in production since 1992. The newer 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 with SureSeal Facepiece and 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 HT Facepiece were launched in 2010 and 2013, respectively. The newer facepieces offer benefits of improved fit, comfort, and voice intelligibility as compared to the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece. In light of improvements made since 1992, 3M™ Scott™ Safety has made the decision that the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece will not be approved with new respirators.

No, the 3M™ Scott™ AV-632 Bayonet Adapter will not be approved for use with the 3M™ Scott™ Weld-O-Vista Facepiece. This adapter and 3M™ Filters and Cartridges will be approved for use with the 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 with SureSeal Facepiece and the 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 HT Facepiece.

If I have the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece or 3M™ Scott™ Weld-O-Vista Facepiece, how long will I be able to use them with 3M™ Scott™ 742 Cartridges?
The 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece and 3M™ Scott™ Weld-O-Vista Facepiece can be used with 3M™ Scott™ 742 Cartridges as long as the cartridges have not expired. Please note that 3M™ Scott™ 742 Series Adapters and 3M™ Scott™ 742 Filters will continue to be sold through July 2021.

If I am using the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece, which facepiece is recommended for conversion so that I can keep using all of my 3M™ Scott™ Equipment and use 3M™ Filters and Cartridges?
The 3M™ Scott™ AV-3000 with SureSeal Facepiece is recommended. It offers the same extensive NIOSH approvals and “Top Down Capability” as the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece. It is NIOSH approved with 3M™ Scott™ Respirators, including 3M™ Scott™ APR (Scott™ 742 Cartridges and 3M™ Filters and Cartridges through the 3M™ Scott™ AV-632 Bayonet Adapter), supplied air, or SCBA and is available with Kevlar®, polyester or rubber head harness.

How long will parts be available for the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece?
Parts for the 3M™ Scott™ AV-2000 Facepiece will continue to be available through March 31, 2024, which is two years following the discontinuation of the facepiece.*
