Highlights
  • A high performance low viscosity two component urethane adhesive
  • Adhesive is used to saturate fiberglass cloth when preparing backup patches
  • Secondary use includes filling cracks, channels and areas restricting the application of an adhesive bead
  • Use with 3M™ Performance Manual Applicator and 3M™ Static Mixing Nozzle

3M™ Fiberglass Matting Adhesive is a low viscosity two-part urethane adhesive used to saturate fiberglass cloth or mat when preparing backup patches. This adhesive may also be used for filling cracks, channels and areas restricting the application of an adhesive bead.

Due to its excellent absorption into fiberglass mat or cloth, 3M™ Fiberglass Matting Adhesive is used to saturate fiberglass cloth and/or mat when creating backup patches for Sheet Molded Compound (SMC) and Fiber Reinforced Polyester (FRP). If bonding reinforcement patches to flexible plastics, use 3M™ Polyolefin Adhesion Promoter before applying the patch. The following times have been determined with ambient air temperature and substrate temperature at 23°C / 73°F and are considered typical values. Our fiberglass matting adhesive has a mix nozzle dwell time of 9.5 minutes, work time of 10 minutes, sanding time of 45 minutes and cure time of 45 minutes.

Suggested applications
  • Used to saturate fibreglass cloth when preparing backup patches
  • Can also be used for filling cracks, channels, and areas restricting the application of an adhesive bead
