Highlights
  • Improved resistance to many new amine-containing automotive fluids and other basic chemicals
  • Offers excellent processability and metal adhesion
  • Delivers improved low-temperature sealing performance
  • Proprietary incorporated cure technology may help save time and increase throughput
  • Categorized as a type 4 FKM per ASTM D1418

3M™ Dyneon™ Base Resistant Elastomer BRE 7231 is a terpolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, propylene and vinylidene fluoride with a 60% fluorine content. This fluoroelastomer (FKM) offers improved resistance to high-amine oils and lubes, coolants and transmission fluids compared to other type 1 and type 2 FKMs.

3M™ Dyneon™ Base Resistant Elastomer BRE 7231 boasts improved base resistance, making it a good choice for applications including engine, transmission, transfer case or different shaft seals, or as a rubber coating for cylinder head gaskets that require multi-fluid resistance to engine oils and coolants.

Suggested applications
  • Oil and Gas Exploration
  • Automotive Shaft Seals
