Highlights
  • Treats the surface of inorganic proppants
  • Helps ensure quicker hydrocarbon production
  • Delivers improved fluid relative permeabilities
  • Increases the conductivity of the fracture
  • Creates a neutral wettability proppant
  • Can be applied either during or after the proppant manufacturing process

3M™ Engineered Surface Treatment for Proppants is a fluorochemical dispersion designed to treat ceramic and sand proppants for oil and gas well fracking operations. This treatment can help improve the phase relative permeability and the conductivity of the proppant pack in the fracture. This also helps ensure quicker hydrocarbon production and greater yields in hydraulic fracturing operations.

A thin layer of 3M™ Engineered Surface Treatment for Proppants on the proppant surface creates a neutral wettability proppant, reducing water saturation in the proppant pack. This treatment can be applied either during or after the manufacturing process of inorganic proppants, such as sand, ceramic, and bauxite.

Suggested applications
  • Designed for use on inorganic proppants like sand, ceramic, and bauxite
