3M™ Perfect-It™ Quick Connect Pads are designed to provide you optimal performance when used with the Perfect-It™ EX system. Eliminate swirl marks on painted surfaces, even on difficult dark coloured cars. The 3M™ Quick Connect Adaptor makes it easy to quickly switch between compound and polishing pads.
Defect Removal and Scratch Refinement

3M™ Trizact™ Abrasives
3M™ Trizact™ Abrasives used in paint defect removal and refinement help reduce compounding and buffing time. They consist of precisely-shaped three-dimensional pyramids distributed uniformly over the surface of the disc. As these pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is constantly exposed to the workpiece, resulting in faster, more consistent performance throughout the life of the discs.
Using a foam compounding pad instead of a wool compounding pad will decrease your process time and reduce the amount of swirl comebacks – as wool is more aggressive than foam and can leave deeper swirl marks.
Using a 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Foam 3000 and 5000 grade discs will reduce your buffing time and eliminate the need for a wool pad, making the job easier and faster!
Step 1: Compounding
Remove sand scratches completely in the shortest amount of time:
- For fastest cut and less heat, use 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX Rubbing Compound and a 3M™ Perfect-It™ 100% Wool Compounding pad
- To redice lint and achieve a better finish, use 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX Rubbing Compound and a 3M™ Perfect-It™ Low Lint Compounding pad
- Eliminate lint and achieve the finest finish by using using 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX Rubbing Compound and a 3M™ Perfect-It™ Foam Compounding Pad

Tech Tip
If during the scratch refinement process you used the 3M™ Trizact™ Hookit™ Foam 5000 grade disc, you can skip wool and go directly to the 3M™ Perfect-It™ Quick Connect White Foam Compounding Pad.
Step 2: Polishing
Remove compound swirl marks:

- Eliminate fine swirl marks and produce a high gloss finish, even on the most difficult dark coloured vehicles by using 3M™ Perfect-It™ EX Ultrafine Machine Polish and a 3M™ Perfect-It™ Foam Ultrafine Polishing Pad

When using 3M™ Perfect-It™ Ultrafine Machine Polish, do not buff dry. Make sure to wipe off excess material with a 3M™ Perfect-It™ Auto Detailing Cloth.
